How do I order?
Cakes can be ordered instore, via our Facebook page or by completing our contact form. We'll take all the details, give you a price and then confirm your booking.
How far in advance do I need to order?
We ask for at least one weeks notice for orders - but the more notice you can give us the better. We can get booked up weeks in advance for some popular weeks (especially for Fridays and Saturdays). If you need a last minute cake or cupcakes please get in touch and we'll always do our best to help you out. We do have a range of everyday ready to go cakes instore but these are in limited numbers and flavours vary.
How much do your cakes cost?
Our ready to go cabinet cakes are between $50 and $60. Our custom cakes vary in price dependent on flavour, size, decoration etc.
As a rough guide, a standard 8" rosette style cake is approx $110. An 8" single tier fondant cake with simple decoration is approx $150.
Most of our three-tier wedding cakes tend to cost around $350-$500, and two-tier cakes tend to cost around $200-$300 - although pricing varies a lot depending on the size and design.
This is just a rough guide to help you budget for your cake - we're very happy to provide a quote for you based on the number of servings, size and design of your own cake. Get in touch for a quote any time you like, we'd love to help.
What's the minimum order for cupcakes?
Cupcakes can be ordered in multiples of 6 (or 12 for mini cupcakes) per flavour. We do have cupcakes available in store if you need smaller amounts or want a mix of flavours.
When will my order be made?
We bake our cakes and cupcakes as late as possible before pick-up/delivery to make sure they are fresh. Cupcakes are usually baked and decorated on the morning of the day you're getting them. Cakes are generally prepared the day before you're getting it, which means the cake is nice and fresh but gives it the important time needed to settle before transport.
How should I store and handle my order?
Always keep your cake or cupcakes at room temperature, not in the fridge (the fridge will dry out the cake and may spoil the icing and decorations). We don't recommend freezing them. In the hotter months, be careful not to leave your treats in the direct sunlight or in a hot spot or car.
Your cake or cupcakes will be delicate, so please handle with care and keep the box level the entire time.
If you need to keep your treats a little longer, or you have any leftovers (unlikely, we know!), you can store them at room temperature in an airtight container until you're ready to dig-in (generally 1-2 days at the most).
Can you deliver my cake? How much will delivery cost?
The short answer is Yes we can. Delivery rates vary depending on where to and when you need the delivery to happen.
If you have a deadline for your delivery (e.g. the latest time you need it by), you need to let us know as early in the booking process as possible so we can schedule this appropriately.
Please mention that you'd like delivery when you place your order, and where this is to. We'll need the full delivery name and address, along with any special delivery instructions. Once we have all of this information, we'll be able to confirm whether we can deliver or not.
If you've booked delivery and you or the lucky recipient is not home at the time of delivery, we'll leave your order in a safe place (e.g. under cover on your porch, in your carport, with a close neighbour, etc.). We don't accept any liability for the treatment or mishandling of your order once we've left it at the delivery address. If you have special instructions for delivery, or you don't want us to leave your order if you're not home, make sure you let us know.
Can I pick-up my order instead of having it delivered?
Of course. You can pick-up your order from our cake shop in Whangaparaoa.
Can you set-up my cake or cupcakes at my event?
We're happy to come to your wedding or event venue and set up your cake or cupcakes (additional charges apply). Please mention you'd like set-up when you place your order and we'll give you the details.
Do you have stands I can hire?
We have cake and cupcakes stands available for hire, just let us know if you want to hire one. Please note charges apply for stand hire, and you are responsible for returning the stand back to us, within the specified timeframes. Any damage caused, or failure to return the stand in time, will be charged back to you.
Do you have cake tins I can hire?
We have round, square and slab tins available for hire, just let us know if you want to hire one. Please note a charge of $10 for 2 day hire plus a refundable deposit of $10 is required. Any damage caused, or failure to return the tin on time, will be charged back to you and cause the forfeit of your deposit.
Do you cater for special diets and allergies?
Yes we do. However we do have lots of allergens in our kitchen, so there is always a reasonable risk of traces.
How do I pay for my order?
You can pay instore using cash, debit or credit card (surcharge applies to credit card). We also accept bank transfers, Laybuy and Genoapay.

Can I make changes to my order?
We all change our mind occasionally, so if you need to change the date or details of your order please get in touch as soon as you can. We may have sourced or prepared special ingredients or decorations in advance, so changes can't be made within four days of your order date (or additional costs may apply). Check our T&Cs below.
Can I cancel my order?
If you need to cancel your order, we'll be as accommodating as we can, but please be aware that we may well have had to turn down other orders to take yours, so we may not be able to provide a refund. In the majority of cases, deposits are non-refundable. Refund information is in the T&Cs below.
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The name that will appear on your statement is Coast Cakes Ltd. We are a New Zealand registered business.
A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking with the balance payable upon collection.
If you cancel your order within 7 days from the pickup/delivery date then you forfeit your deposit and you will be liable for the full amount of the order.
Cakes are to be collected by close of business on the day specified. At our discretion we may store your cake for an additional 24 hours, after this your order will be cancelled and you will be liable for the full amount.
Once you or a designated party has picked up the order, it is considered "accepted" - please ensure that everything is correct prior to collection (ie colours and spelling).
Every order is hand made. Decorative finishes are done by hand and are subject to the artistic interpretation of our expert cake decorators. You may provide us with a photo for inspiration and duplication, however we make no claims for exact duplication. Any errors need to be pointed out to us AT TIME OF PICKUP, all attempts will be made to rectify the issue before you leave our shop.
Due to the handcrafted nature of our products, we are unable to provide refunds or exchanges.
The only circumstance when an order will be refunded is if you come to the store with at least 75% of the cake remaining and you are not happy with your order, we will, at our discretion, give you a refund (minus 25% handling/cancellation fee). The refund will be given as a gift voucher - no cash/money refunds will be given. You cannot take the cake and have a refund. We will NOT negotiate a partial refund. We are not responsible for any expense you may incur for replacing the cake.
Once an item leaves our shop it is considered accepted and Coast Cakes Ltd undertake no responsibility for an item once it leaves the store. Please place cakes on the floor of the car or in a flat level boot space. Cakes and cupcakes are to be stored at room temperature unless otherwise specified.
