Ordering
How do I order?
Cakes can be ordered:
- In store at our Whangaparaoa location
- Via email
- Via our Facebook page
- By completing our contact form
We'll take all the details, give you a price and then confirm your booking.
How far in advance do I need to order?
We ask for at least one week's notice for orders - but the more notice you can give us the better. We can get booked up weeks in advance for some popular weeks (especially for Fridays and Saturdays).
If you need a last minute cake or cupcakes please get in touch and we'll always do our best to help you out. We do have a range of everyday ready-to-go cakes in store but these are in limited numbers and flavours vary.
What's the minimum order for cupcakes?
Cupcakes can be ordered in multiples of 6 (or 12 for mini cupcakes) per flavour. We do have cupcakes available in store if you need smaller amounts or want a mix of flavours.
When will my order be made?
We bake our cakes and cupcakes as late as possible before pick-up/delivery to ensure freshness:
- Cupcakes: Usually baked and decorated on the morning of the day you're getting them
- Cakes: Generally prepared the day before pickup/delivery, which means the cake is fresh but gives it important time to settle before transport

Custom Cakes (approximate pricing)
- Standard 8" rosette style cake: ~$180
- 8" single tier fondant cake (simple decoration): ~$210
- Two-tier wedding cakes: $300-$500
- Three-tier wedding cakes: $450-$800
This is just a rough guide to help you budget. We're very happy to provide a quote based on the number of servings, size and design of your cake. Get in touch for a quote any time you like!
Delivery & Pickup
Can you deliver my cake? How much will delivery cost?
Yes, we can deliver! Delivery rates vary depending on location and timing.
Important: If you have a deadline for your delivery (e.g. the latest time you need it by), let us know as early in the booking process as possible so we can schedule appropriately.
Please mention delivery when you place your order, along with:
- Full delivery name and address
- Any special delivery instructions
Delivery Policy: If you're not home at delivery time, we'll leave your order in a safe place (under cover on your porch, in your carport, with a close neighbour, etc.). We don't accept liability for treatment or mishandling once we've left it at the delivery address.
Can I pick up my order instead of having it delivered?
Of course! You can pick up your order from our cake shop in Whangaparaoa.
How should I store and handle my order?
Storage
- Always keep at room temperature - NOT in the fridge
- The fridge will dry out the cake and may spoil icing and decorations
- We don't recommend freezing
- In hot weather, avoid direct sunlight or hot cars
Handling
- Handle with care - your treats are delicate
- Keep the box level the entire time
- Place on car floor or flat boot space for transport
Leftovers
Store at room temperature in an airtight container for 1-2 days maximum.
Additional Services
Can you set up my cake or cupcakes at my event?
We're happy to come to your wedding or event venue and set up your cake or cupcakes. Additional charges apply. Please mention you'd like set-up when you place your order and we'll give you the details.
Do you have stands I can hire?
We have cake and cupcake stands available for hire. Charges apply for stand hire, and you are responsible for returning the stand within the specified timeframes. Any damage or failure to return on time will be charged back to you.
Do you have cake tins I can hire?
We have round, square and slab tins available for hire.
Hire Cost: $10 for 2-day hire + $10 refundable deposit
Any damage or failure to return on time will result in charges and forfeit of deposit.
Dietary Requirements
Do you cater for special diets and allergies?
Yes we do. However, we do have lots of allergens in our kitchen, so there is always a reasonable risk of traces.
Please note: While we can accommodate special dietary requirements, cross-contamination is possible due to shared kitchen facilities.

Can I make changes to my order?
We understand that plans change! If you need to change the date or details of your order, please get in touch as soon as possible.
Important: Changes cannot be made within four days of your order date (or additional costs may apply) as we may have already sourced special ingredients or decorations.
Can I cancel my order?
If you need to cancel your order, we'll be as accommodating as we can. However, please be aware that we may have had to turn down other orders to take yours, so we may not be able to provide a refund. In the majority of cases, deposits are non-refundable.

Terms & Conditions
The name that will appear on your statement is Coast Cakes Ltd. We are a New Zealand registered business.
Deposits & Payment
- A 50% deposit is required to secure your booking
- Balance payable upon collection
Cancellations
- Cancel within 7 days of pickup/delivery = forfeit deposit + liable for full amount
- Deposits are generally non-refundable
Collection
- Cakes must be collected by close of business on specified day
- We may store for additional 24 hours at our discretion
- After this, order cancelled and you're liable for full amount
Quality & Acceptance
- Every order is handmade
- Decorative finishes are subject to artistic interpretation
- Photos provided for inspiration - we make no claims for exact duplication
- Once picked up, order is considered "accepted"
- Check everything before leaving our shop
Refunds
- Due to handcrafted nature, no refunds or exchanges normally provided
- Exception: Return with 75% of cake remaining if unsatisfied
- Refund at our discretion (minus 25% handling fee)
- Refund given as gift voucher only - no cash refunds
- Cannot take cake and receive refund
Liability
- Once item leaves our shop, it's considered accepted
- Coast Cakes Ltd has no responsibility after item leaves store
- Place cakes on car floor or flat boot space
- Store at room temperature unless specified otherwise
